paris fashion week 2017

[title]

welcome to this historical event. we are here livefrom the grand palais in paris. i am hayley mcqueen andi will be hosting this magical evening. we will finally see the next generationof trucks from scania. behind me the launch event itselfwill be taking place right now. it is unfolding, it is all kicked off here. this is scania's biggest new productlaunch in more than two decades. erik ljungberg you can see there onthe stage, head of corporate relations, open the eventjust a few moments ago on stage,

greeting the 1,300 or so guestsin the auditorium. now everyoneis eagerly awaiting the actual reveal. we are delighted to have you alongwatching with us live online. there are many possibilitiesto share this great evening. if you are on social media, get involved. you can see the hashtag right downthere, which is #nextgenscania. and you can watch us live on facebookas well and nextgenscania.com. we are standing on historic ground. just look at this.

it is a beautiful building,an example of design innovation. these are the valuesthat have characterised scania through its 125-year history. the grand palais des champs-ã‰lysã©eswas built for the 1900 world fair. it continues to be the venue for manyof the greatest events in fashion and art. here artists such as matisseand picasso first broke through, but also horse and motor showshave been held here. great fashion houses have paradedtheir latest creations along the catwalk, and today we can look forwardto another outstanding work of art,

the next generation scania. with us tonightis not just me in the studio. we haveour two super charged live reporters, who'll be bringing us all the informationfrom where the action is. we have samantha coard.hi there, samantha. -hi there, hayley. how are you?-very well, thank you. and we have oriel danielsson as well.hi there, oriel. hello, hayley. - hi, samantha. so samantha, tell us exactly where you are.

i'm standing right in the exploration area. behind the camera, which you can't see,i can see all the actual trucks. so i'm feeling really luckybeing allowed inside here. and obviously this area is off-limitsto all visitors until after the reveal, so it's really exciting. and oriel, where are you? i'm standing here in the backof this magnificent auditorium, right behind the stage wherehenrik henriksson, ceo of scania, is getting preparedfor this historical moment.

later tonight, i hope to interview him. let me tell you right now, standing backhere you can feel the suspense building. -i'm excited.-i think we're all excited. thank you very much. we'll be withsamantha and oriel for plenty more. oriel just mentioned henrikwas just stepping on stage as our cameras were backstage. and the ceo of scania, henrik henriksson, is there. let's take a listen in,have a look at him now. it is also to help youbuild a more sustainable future

in the communities in which we live, and for society at large. through brilliant engineering anda focus on continuous improvements, we have fulfilled these ambitions year after year, decade after decade. most importantly,we have delivered on these promises together as one team. today we are 45,000 peopleemployed at scania, operating in more than 100 countries, and we are truly a global family.

we learn together,we collaborate together. we share our ideas together, across boundaries and cultures. and that is the greatest sourceof strength... here we are, expectations,my goodness, aren't they just high? not just here in paris, but alsothroughout the world of transport. earlier, we visitedone of the biggest truck stops in europe to hear what some of the drivershad to say. they're excited, really greatto hear from the drivers themselves. they are the ones that are going tobe working and living in these vehicles.

and we have a little somethingfor you as well. here's a little tasterof what's coming up in a few minutes. i'm very pleased to say we have erikljungberg, who is in the studio with us. erik, you were greeting the guestson stage a little earlier. it looks spectacular.sum up how big this is. it's absolutely fantastic for us. i can't use...the right amount of words to use, but it's great, it's special,it's an historic event. we have been working on this newproduct for more than ten years now.

we have invested two billion eurosinto this new product. and it's not only a new product, actually. it's also a next generation of scania, delivering even higher profitabilityto our customers with our solutions, but also more sustainable solutionsto our society at large. and why paris, why this spectacular venue here? i've got that question before, but for us it was an easy choice. to start with, grand palais here in parisis a fantastic venue and location. it's a dramatic exampleof design innovation,

right in the heart of a city famousfor its rich and proud heritage. those are themesthat resonate strongly with scania. france is one of our home markets, one of the biggest in europe for us, and we have been producing trucks heresince 1992. and of course paris is at the forefrontof sustainable solutions and transport, and that's a subjectvery close to our hearts. -and are you nervous?-i wouldn't say i'm nervous. i'm excited, because now it actually starts. in a couple of minutes, we will show thenew truck to the whole global audience.

and we are very excited how thecustomers, the drivers, will receive it. and we hope that they will love itas much as we do. i'm very sure they will.erik, thank you very much. you mentioned the customer. - you arehopefully watching us online. hi there. for all of you who want to follow uson social media, you can do just that. look us up with the hashtag.there'll be plenty of pictures to look at and lots of videos also, with the hashtag #nextgenscania, all centred around the new truck. keep telling us about your expectations,

and you can followall of the information there. i'm very pleased to say i'm joined nowby steve pope from the uk. we talked about truck drivers,we've seen a few of them. you are an actual truck driverand one of those selected to test drive. not only that, but drive it thousandsof miles up and down the country, camouflaged for a great length of time.tell us what that was like. yes, that's correct, hayley.it's been absolutely fantastic. as you say, thousands of mileshave been completed and still thousands more to do.

but it's been absolutely brilliant, it's beenan experience that is second to none. and i'm just so grateful that scaniahas given me the chance to do this. tell me about an ordinary day.what does that entail? how do you keep peoplefrom being nosy? they're not easy to hide, these trucks. they're notthe easiest things to hide, no. on a normal day, we just go outand we do our normal thing. but when we pull up for night-timeor truck stops, it's a case of getting those curtainsclosed, stopping people looking in

and believing that they knoweverything about what's inside. how do you keep them from doing that? you must have come up with storiesas to why the truck looks as it does. yeah, that's right. it's been brilliant, the stories i've had to tell them. it's all to dowith green screen technology and it's all to do with radiation testingand bulletproof trucks. some drivers believe itand go away quite happy. others just walk away shaking headsand still none the wiser. -good job you've got a good imagination.-it is, isn't it?

what has it been like to be inside?we can't reveal too much, but from a comfort levelfrom a driver's point of view? the comfort is absolutely superb.i live in my truck five, six days a week. it is home from home. the comfort and home... comforts i've taken with meto make life easier all help, and i really wouldn't be without itat the moment. lots of your opinions help scania make this an even bigger, better and special truck.

they treat the customersas their number one, don't they? -they really do.-they are most important to scania. how important is the relationship be-tween the company and the customer? without the customers' inputinto something like this, certainly they're not goingto get firsthand experience as what's right, what's wrong, whatdoes feel good, what doesn't feel good. and without our helpand customers' help, and the rest of the driving experiencesthat we've had, we wouldn't be here todaywith what we've got.

very briefly, sum up what you'll feel likewhen you see it unveiled. you've seen almost what it looks like, but to see the official unveiling of it. it's going to be so exciting, isn't it?it's going to be really good. it is. thank you very much.i'm glad you've enjoyed yourself driving aroundin that camouflaged truck. we'll see the real thing very shortly.thank you very much, steve. steve's a very important partof that process there. the new truck generationthat you'll see in a few minutes comes from a very long history,125 years to be exact.

this is the scania legacy. a lot has happened in 125 gloriousyears, and yet something remains the same. scania is still at the forefrontof reinventing how the world movesboth people and cargo. just like we have been since 1891, when railway carriages were producedunder the name vabis in sã¶dertã¤lje. through the mergerwith malmã¶-based scania, creative and groundbreaking vehiclesstarted flowing from our factories.

the yellow peril rolled outof the factory in malm㶠in 1901, and was followed a year afterby the vabis first truck, which could haul 1.5 tonnes of cargoand had a top speed of 12 km/h. we've never lacked courage and hada sense of adventure from thebeginning. such as when these five gentlemendrove from malm㶠to stockholm with a truck in just 33.5 hours. since then, we've continuedto challenge our trucks and drivers with things like daring deliveries to dubai and ice transports from northern norwayto the heart of africa.

field tests still remain closeto the scania heart and help us develop. no detail is too smalland we strive to improve in every area, from our textile shopsand painting facilities to our assembly linesand developing of engines. we are proud to have skilled employeesand factories in many parts of the world. our buses and trucks have beenaward-winning and groundbreaking for design, functionalityand environmental awareness. we will never stop changing howthe world moves its people and cargo. that is our legacy.

yes, that was the scania legacyand isn't that a tremendous story? the truck we'll be seeing later on thisevening is the latest jewel in their crown. but what can we expectin the years to come? joining me now is head of r&d,mr claes erixon. i'm sure he can providesome useful and great insights. -hi, claes, how are you doing?-i'm fantastic, what an evening. it's really, truly spectacular. talking about the future, what canwe expect in the years to come? in many ways, the future is already here,

but most definitely we will seemuch more of electrification. we will see a lot more fully electricand hybrid buses in our cities. we will see morehybrid delivery vehicles in urban areas. and we are currently testinglong haulage trucks on motorways, that are charged from overheadpower lines, much like trains. and that's just the start. that's just the start, you say.what else can we see? digitalisation is definitelychanging the world and transport is no exception.

everything will be connectedand so will our vehicles. in fact, we already have over 200,000connected scania trucks and buses. do you have an example?can you tell me more? this opens up a lot of opportunities formore smart and sustainable transport. one example is that since wecontinuously monitor vehicles, we now know so much more. so we can individually adaptmaintenance and repairs to the operational characteristicsof that particular vehicle. that's fantastic, and speaking of digitalisation,

of course i come to thinkof autonomous vehicles. what can you say about them? that's another areawith major development. i'm happy to say that scaniais at the forefront also in this area. we will soon start testswith fully self-driving trucks in a mining environment.of course it will take a while before we see self-driving trucksand buses on public roads, but meanwhile, we continue researchingand developing autonomous vehicles and we learn more.

what we do knowis that this technology has the potential to increase safety and efficiencyon roads. that's fantastic.you told us about electrification, digitalisation, autonomous vehicles... what do they have in common? they all have in common that they cancontribute to more sustainable transport. and that's justwhat the world needs right now. thank you very much, claes erixon.enjoy the rest of the evening. thank you very much.

thank you. - back to you now, hayley. thank you very much, samantha. getting lots more informationabout these new trucks which we're going to be seeingjust behind me, not long now. and it's not only abouta new product launch for scania. this truck is also a means to achievea future of sustainable transport. earlier today, scania organiseda sustainable transport forum where experts outlinedhow to accelerate this shift towards a sustainable futurefor the world of transports.

now let's hear from formerun secretary general kofi annan, where it is all about sustainabilityin a global perspective. good evening and thank you, henrik, for your kind welcome. allow me to applaud youand the scania group for your commitmentto pioneering sustainable transport. in a way, henrik, you summed up my speech by indicating that you put the individualand sustainability at the centre of all that you do. and that, in essence, is my message.

as today's insightful discussionshave made clear, the need to build a moresustainable society is an urgent one. improving sustainability is a priority, not only for the government, but also for business in every sector and industry. after all, no business can succeedin a society that fails. great words from kofi annan there. now, for all of you watching, there are plenty of waysto follow this evening's events

and pick up informationas well thereafter. there'll be lots of pictures and videosonline, all centred around the new truck. keep the hashtag #nextgenscaniacoming in. we'll also have experts online laterto answer some of your questions. but for now, tell us aboutyour expectations of the new truck. talking about building, in oskarshamnin sweden, scania has secretly built a state-of-the-art cab manu-facturing plant over the past few years. it is perfectly unique in its kind. over 200 robotsdo all the assembly work.

joining me in the studio nowis helene sjã¶blom, a leading engineer at scania. you coordinate and manage many of the hundred long-and short-term development projects. that ability has been put to the testin developing a new truck generation. what's involved in the designof a new truck? where do you start? we started this projectsome ten years ago with the aimto design and shape a new truck that's not only world-leading in 2016,but for many years to come.

designing a new truck gave us a uniqueopportunity to improve many things, like fuel economy, drivability, safety, and also creating the best possiblework environment for drivers, and that's only to mention a few factors. that is time-consuming workand doesn't happen overnight, does it? no, it doesn't. thousands of engineers, procurement experts and productiontechnicians have worked with the design and at the same time making surethat it's possible to manufacture, maintain and repair.and that has been a huge puzzle.

you might think a truck is big,but it's very limited space. it's been challenging for the projectto fit all the 5,000 new parts. and that was not the end,we had to continue. there was just as much work leftin testing, testing and re-testing. we couldn't be sure it was all working until we put all the pieces togetherand tested again. we've been driving multiple return-tripsto the moon just to make sure. and then finally, we neededto test in real transport operations. yeah. i mean, 5,000 parts,to fit all those in... goodness me.

it must be quite a relief for youto finally to see the truck unveiled. for sure, it's truly a proud moment. actually, i have goose bumpsin this heat. it's possible. we have donesomething historical together. now we have this world-leading truckthat can be challenged by the future. a truck that we can continue to developby adding new ideas and innovations. that's what makes this jobso really exciting. obviously scaniais at the forefront of technology. it must make you proudto be part of this huge team

that makes sure that the future is lookedafter and looks even bigger and better. it does, it's truly a proud momentand the team has been fantastic. tonight in this venue... is this biggerand more exciting than you expected, with the thousands of people who haveturned up in this wonderful setting? it's nothing you could imagine. it's biggerand better than you could imagine. how proud are you to be part ofthe scania family? is it like a family? everyone seems to know everyone. i had the chance to drive a truck as well.i wasn't very good. i had someone alongside me complyingwith health and safety regulations.

i have a clean driver's license. it was not only being part of a family.it seems to be great fun as well. it is. i've been with the companyfor almost 20 years and i still love it. it's the best employerand the best work you can have. well done, a proud momentas it will be unveiled in just a moment. it is getting very close to the reveal itself. we can head back to the drivers at thetruck stop and give them a sneak peek. this is what they said. there are plenty of waysto get in touch with us.

follow us on social media, hashtag #nextgenscania. there are also ways to follow usas well on various social media outlets. and we can head to the stage now. we have henrik henriksson.we can join him now. ...sharing with you here tonightbrings that story to life in a most powerful way as we launchthe most energy-efficient trucks that we have ever, ever built. for the first time in 21 years,

we are introducing a new productthat through its very foundation will dramatically reducefuel consumption and take co2 levels to a levelthat is unheard of in our industry. it is the culmination of all the knowledgewe have built up from our engineers, and all the knowledge fromour customers and drivers. and based on the insight of morethan 200,000 connected vehicles. to the very last detail, it is tailored toaddress your operational challenges and to serve the societiesin which we live. designed for 2 million kilometres,

that in itselfa statement of sustainability. ten years in the making, it representsan investment of over 2 billion euros and the incredible workof all our dedicated employees. this... this is our next step in the shift towards a futureof sustainable transport. designed, developed and builtfor the only business that matters. yours. ladies and gentlemen. it is with a heart bursting with pride

that i introduce to youthe new generation scania. the new scania is finally here. our most important product launch ever. and to the 45,000passionate scania employees that have been part of this journey, and have given so muchof themselves along the way... all of you have madethis incredible moment possible for us. thank you. wow, what a moment.

what a dramatic introduction.it was never going to be anything else. the crowd absolutely loving it out there,it really is fantastic. we hope that you are loving what youare seeing while watching live online. thank you very much for doing so. facebook live is whereyou can catch all the action, and via scania.com...so scania next generation... follow us as well via social mediafor more information about this truck. the pictures, the videosand the stories are starting now. have a look on social media to find outmore about what you're currently seeing.

after the event, there'll also be expertson hand to answer your questions. i'm sure plenty of youwill have questions. we'd like nextgenscania.comto keep going and make sure that all of you watchingus right now pass the message on to those who might not themselveshave got a chance to see this launch. you don't miss a thing. on the stage, you can see everything happening. the dramatic introduction of thiswonderfully beautiful-looking truck. talk about getting the aesthetics right. and we have the man who has justbeen introducing these trucks on stage.

a very proud man. oriel is with henrik henriksson,i believe. - oriel? i'm standing herewith a very happy henrik henriksson. the new truck generationis finally launched. how do you feel? it feels fantastic. we've been waiting so longfor this moment and it's great to see it really happening. a lot of hard work has been put inby all the great scania employees. finally it's here and we have so manynews that we want to share with you.

so stay on, because there's moreto come if you hang on with us. if you were to give one messageto our viewers that are watching live right now, what would it be? it would be that we have investeda lot of money, a lot of effort in this. we have spent a lot of time tounderstand what customers really need. we have developed somethingthat is unique for our customers, that will improve their profitability, make them more profitable. and it's not only a product, but it's also services. i'm really looking forwardto meeting you all face to face in person,

and get your immediate reactionto what we have achieved. we are so proud and we think thatthis is going to be a game changer. thank you, henrik.enjoy the rest of the evening. thank you very much, oriel, with henrik fresh from the stage. plenty more going on behind methat we'll keep you up to date with. i'm very pleased to say that wenow have martin sylvã©n in the studio, head of scania's sales and marketingof long-haulage trucks. martin, what did we just experience there? this is great and this is whatthe modern truck looks like.

it's completely new and it's designed to make our customerseven more profitable. it really supersedesanything we've seen before when it comes to fuel efficiencyand performance. what about one of the major featuresof the trucks? aerodynamics, i gather? we're definitely setting a new standardwhen it comes to aerodynamics. look at the new cab shape, the clean cab corners, all the flush mounted componentsand the tight panel gaps. everything to reduce air drag.

they've even improved the airflowunder the vehicle. this, in combination withour hugely improved powertrains, cuts the fuel consumptionby an impressive 5%. additionally, we've engineeredgreat precision and feeling into the handling, stability and braking performance. we've moved the front axle forward. we're introducing a new cab and frontaxle suspension and so much more. the truck really needsto be experienced on the road. -and you have more to show, don't you?-yeah, of course.

the first thing that strikes youis the new cab. we're introducing a fantastic cab range, now extended with the s-cab, which comes with a completely flat floorfor maximum comfort and space. so inside it is... it's a stylish design. it's like that of a luxury passengervehicle that we can see now. yeah, when designing the interior, we literally started to identifythe optimal driver position and then we built the cab around it. and everything can be tailoredto the needs of our customers,

from the shape of the steering wheelfor excellent cross-cab access to the personalised instrument cluster. driver comfort, interior qualityand living conditions, everything is being elevatedto new heights with a fit and finishnever seen in this industry before. -are you feeling very proud?-i'm feeling very proud. how would you sum up where we areand what this means to you? this is a great thing for scania, this is a fantastic evening for all of us and all the colleagues that havebeen involved in this journey

to finally show this great productfor the public. the information you told us is certainlyexciting for those watching. thank you. for those of you getting a glimpseof what you've been waiting to see, there are lots of videos, pictures andstories as well about the new truck. go to scania.com for more, and various social media outlets as well. experts online will be there to answermany of your questions as well. i am pleased to say the man joining menow will answer some of my questions. we have kristofer hansã©n. i mean, goodness me,this truck looks pretty special.

it's fantastic and leading the wayin terms of what it does, but that it's a good-looking truckis partly down to you, head of styling at scania. i mean, how difficult is it to mix technology and also try and have somethingthat is aesthetically pleasing as well? it's difficult, but that is what we do. as a designer, the mission is toknow about the technical conditions, to understand the functions and needs, and then challenge that. that is the idea, to get theabsolutely best out of the possibilities,

to create a productthat you can sell on the market. and we started with the exterior, with the concept of "athletic". when you see this truck,it shouldn't feel clumsy or fat. it should be more like a racehorse, very slim and fit for the purpose. on the interior, it was "agile strength". normally when you enter into a truck,it's kind of bulky, it's big things and so. we tried a very different concept.it's much more flowing lines. it should be agileand understandable, reachable. everything done for the driverto work perfectly.

and are you pleasedwith the final results? i'm very, very pleased with the results.it's very good. we say that the driver shouldhave majestic power underneath, so masterful controlof the majestic power is the idea. i bet you can't wait to see it on the roadand think: "that's mine." that's true and i really love this project.i love the truck, it's fantastic. thank you very muchfor telling us a little bit more about what many will get to see close upvery soon indeed. thank you. thank you, kristofer. - one of the keyfeatures in the new truck generation

is not just in how it looks, but the5% reduction in fuel consumption. and that is in the hardware alone. adding services, there is a potentialof gaining 11% in fuel efficiency and of course,it takes an awful lot to achieve this. the new generation of scania trucksis more fuel-efficient than ever. developed aerodynamics, increased injection rate and powertrain improvements contributesavings in fuel consumption of 5%. vehicles that areaerodynamically optimised use less fuel. air flows easily over them

and less energy is requiredto propel them forward. even small changes in design and shapecan make a big difference. after ten years of styling proposalsand studies, final tests were conductedin a wind tunnel. numerous aerodynamic improvementswork together to provide significant fuel savingscompared with today's trucks, vehicles that are alreadyconsidered industry benchmarks in terms of fuel consumption. another step towardsreducing fuel consumption

is to increase the fuel injection ratewith a precise amount of fuel. this is made in combination witha greater flow to optimise combustion. to reach optimal engine efficiencywhile considering fuel consumption, the primary objectivewhen designing the new fuel injector was to be able to provide the exactamount of injected fuel at a faster rate, whilst maintainingexceptional reliability and durability. in scania's new truck generation, both engine and gearboxare fine-tuned in every aspect. for example, the optimisedcombustion chamber, the new injectors,

the improved aftertreatment systemand the transmission. basically, we have taken an alreadyproven and reliable powertrain and fine-tuned it and optimised it for increased fuel efficiencyand better drivability. and then we have installed itinto the completely new truck. the facts and figures are impressive, but the true difference becomes clearwhen you drive it. it is a fantastic powertrain. many here will experiencethe new features of this truck

up close and personal. we can head back to samantha, whois with someone who has done just that. an enthusiast, samantha. yes, hayley, there's lots of interest here and i found belgian customerand fleet owner benny smets. -hi, benny, how are you doing?-very well, thank you. how was the reveal?you've just experienced it. yeah, it's great. the truck looks great. to be honest, i was excitedbecause i didn't know what to expect.

as far as i was concerned, the previous truck was still up-to-date and it's still for usthe best on the market. so i didn't know what to expect. i didn'tknow if there was anything to improve. now that i've seen the truckand the improvements, i look forward to seeingthe truck on the road and preferably in red, our companycolours, with the name ninatrans on it. great. so you've been in the businessfor a long time, haven't you? yes, we are a third-generation family-owned company since about 20 years. my sister nina, my brother-in-lawand myself run the company,

a transport business from belgium with branches in germany, czech republic and france. you didn't know what to expect, but when you were walking here, how did your mind go? i was curious, and to see alsothe importance of scania that they put in sustainabletransport and sustainability is also a very important elementand part of our business culture. today, i'm really convinced that scaniawill be our partner for the next years. thank you, benny smets, and have a lovely evening.

back to you, hayley. thank you, samantha. - engineeringdesign, testing at home and away, ensuring qualityand not least planning production, they all form part ofa very important and huge process before the new truck is introduced.let's take a look at some of these steps. flip over accidents can often mean thata truck driver could be fatally injured. scania has developed an airbag curtainin the new truck that has the potentialof significantly reducing fatalities. no other brand has this safety feature.

safety has alwaysbeen a part of scania's dna. today, the most serioustype of accident for truck drivers is when the vehicles overturnsduring an evasive manoeuvre. for example, when taking a bend too fast, or at a sudden-onset traffic queue, which can lead to the driverbeing trapped beneath the cab. to prevent this, scania's new generation of cabs can be equippedwith rollover curtain side airbags, a security systemintegrated into the ceiling,

which has never beforebeen used in trucks. together withthe new cab's robust structure, the curtain side airbags' unique abilityto protect the driver creates a whole new level of safetyfor the driver. for 5 years, scania's new generation oftrucks have undergone advanced testing and over 40 truckshave been destroyed during the process. every single crash testis planned for over a year, takes 6-8 weeks to prepare forand is over in half a second. test equipment and sensorsare rigged around the truck.

dozens of high-speed cameras are usedso that the crash can be studied in detail when the test vehicle drives into differentobstacles, like poles, passenger cars and concrete railings. by introducingrollover side curtain airbags, scania estimates that the numberof drivers killed in rollover accidents could potentially be reduced by 25%. the potential to come out safely fromsuch an accident has never been better. we have an impressive guest listhere tonight at this event. with me i have filip de clercqfrom belgium,

who is the general managerof the gilbert de clercq group. in your fleet, you have180 scania trucks. is that correct? that's correct. we've workedwith scania for many years. that's wonderful. tell meabout the experience of tonight. we are in a great place,in the grand palais, and it's great to be herefor the reveal of the next generation. to me, it's important to know whatthe future is that scania is looking at. do we see that as a companyand is there a fit, yes or no? why was it important for youto be here tonight?

just to receive that informationand also as we've seen, that scania is insisting on durableand sustainable development. that's very important for us so i think there might bepossible opportunities for future investmentsand partnerships together. what is your relationship to scania?you told me about a memory you have. yes, when i was a small boy, i saw the scanias coming onthe premises in our home office. the house was standing next to it.

i saw the 111 and 140 scaniasof that time. today, we saw the revealof the new scania, the new generation, and it's looking impressive and great. thank you.enjoy the rest of the evening. we have a lot of guestshere in the grand palais, but you who are watching us liveare also our guests. we want to hear what you think,so go on social media and let us know. yeah, do exactly what oriel says. thank you for all the commentsrunning across the bottom of the screen.

let's have a look at some of thestatements made by christian levin, who is head of sales and marketing, presenting the new truck generationand his vision behind it. the new generation scaniahas been built from the ground up to meet the needsof 21st century transport. and from me tonight, representingscania's commercial organisation, i would also personallylike to express my thanks to all the brilliant engineers, and in that of course i includepurchasing and production,

who have truly excelledand made from now on our life out in the marketso much easier. to truly deliver on our vision, we need a step changein 3 critical areas: the driver experience, our customers' profitability and in sustainability. and we could only do that by introducinga brand new truck generation. today is not onlythe launch of a new truck range, but of billions of uniqueand complete transport solutions

that will allow you, our customers, to be more profitableand more sustainable than ever before. this stunning truckthat we're launching here tonight truly embodies the scania image with outstanding performance and a fullrange of innovative, connected services. the first thing you'll seeis of course this brand new cab. it outshinesanything we have done before. the look of the new cab rangeimmediately sets it apart. so much typical scania

with its horizontal ribs in the grille and the wrapping t around it above. and still without any question, totally and completely new. nothing has been left untouched. the grand palais is full of enthusiasticcustomers right now. i'm meeting up with one, mr danielecelere from italy. - how are you? first of all,let me thank scania for this invitation. it's great to be here. this event is incredibleand the forum was very interesting.

i'm very happy to be here. what were your expectationsearlier on this afternoon? i was very curious. this was presented as an importantevent and it's really an important event. the location, all these people...i'm very satisfied. and it is an important eventfor you as a customer. can you tell me aboutyour own history with scania? i started in this business16 years ago, in havi. i had the opportunityto work closely with scania

on several projects in alternative fuels, like biodiesel and biogas. i'm very proudthat we reached the target to transform this project in trucksand we are using that. thank you, daniele.please enjoy the rest of the evening. -thank you.-back to you, hayley. i'm with christopher podgorski, who is the senior vp & head of salesand marketing for trucks at scania. we've seen many great featuresand heard about a lot of them as well.

i understand this formspart of a broader picture for scania. that is correct, hayley. we have given a lot of thought on howto enhance our customers' profitability, and by this we are expanding the roleof our truck to a broader context. what does a broader context mean? well, never underestimating thesignificance of our new truck generation, we realise that each customer's needs and each transport operationare different. so, an average truck,

with an almost correct specification and almost the right features, will never suitthe purpose of all applications, even if i'm talking aboutthe best truck in the world. so, our proposal is reallyto offer a unique transport solution, and we do that by... ...by fine-tuning the strengthof our technical specifications and the smartnessof our optimised services, tailor-making this solutionfor each application

and each individual operation. and that carefulnessis what really will enable and make the value of our new truckgeneration perceived by our customers. what about scania's approach, what is their approach? at the end of the day,we are expanding the scope to focus on the customer'sentire operations, aiming to enhance his profitability. at the end of the day,we are introducing a new concept that isthe premium operating economy.

we believe it is the bestand maybe the only way to face a very challengingand competitive business environment. and we will do that with individualcustomers and in partnership with them. and to them i have a message: allow scania to tailor a solution forthe only business that matters. yours! christopher, thank you very much. we shall let you join the guests asthe events have just wrapped up here. henrik henrikssonhas just closed the event. the thousandswho have congregated in here

are eagerly making their wayout into the auditorium to get a closer lookat the trucks themselves. you'll be finding outa lot more about that. thank you so very muchfor watching at home. you can find out more informationvia scania.com and if you're on various social media, make sure you can follow all the action. so much information about the newtruck. you've only seen half of it here. you'll get so much morewith the pictures and videos online, together with great stories from someof the people i've been interviewing

and that you've been introduced toon our journey this evening bringing you this action livefrom the grand palais in paris. from myself and all of the teamat scania, we wish you a good evening. thank you for sharing it with us. let's take a final lookat the new scania truck.
