on this episode of roadkill exhaustivescientific research to discover who makes the best cop car chevy or ford we're gonna kick it off here at santaanita park in arcadia california also known as paved acres of destruction we've got two goals this time aroundfor roadkill goal number one invent a brand new motorsport and goal number two figure out up the twocop cars we bought

which one is better the ford or the chevy this is something i've wanted to do for a long time there's nothing cooler than thrashing on a v-8 rear-wheel drive full-sizeamerican sedan and the ultimate example of those of course cop cars the two really killer cop cars on the marketyou can buy used are the 90 4 5 and 6 caprice 9c one which is the chevy powered by a 350cubic inch lt1 v8

its rated at 260 horsepower honestly ithink it makes more than that the ford you really want to buy is an 03and up crown vic p71 making 250 horsepower at least that'swhere they were rated i don't think they make that much thesecars are sickening slow as usual we surfed craigslist trying tofind our candidates for our testing we paid 1700 bucks for the chevy and2500 bucks at the crown vic the chevy is 10 years older than theford it as a hundred and seventy three thousandmiles on the ford only has a 101 however the caprice is the only car thepolice agencies have

ever bothered to restore from scratchwhen they hit the limit their service life and so i waskind of a fan at the caprice finnegan liked the ford so finnegan wentfor amenities basically and i went for horsepower so on daynumber one our first event was a good old fashion drag race and we didn't use any timing equipmentcuz that's way too scientific we just went head to head side by sidewhich cars better in the drag race i predict complete dominance by thecaprice

no doubt crown vic huh this cars got a hundred 1,000miles of chasing perps are we gonna go onthree well on three to one on one okay you count 3 2 one he completely jumped me yes he's done he chickend out he thought he was gonna runout a parking lot winning

it's about the guy who gets out in frontand lets off and claims the race is over i was driving right past you you lose why i won the race i passed you no i was already done by then we'redone racing nope yeah we're professionals in the first drag racei'm really annoyed because the crown vic left on me i'm in thecaprice and honestly it has so much power and such adestroyed posey that it is just laying wheel with one tire and he getsout from me but wasn't that worried about it because

after the caprice hooked up it justfreight train the crown vic and we learned right away that the crownvic had a better holeshot and when i wasn't cheating the start the caprice was quicker on the top end i think you we need to go again cuz hejumped me and i still passed him i got to figure of a new way to cheat realquick this is weird i've never been in the front seat of a cop car it's like backwards okay you want to do the countno you go ahead 3 2 1

yeah capri wins so in second race i had it figured out and the capricedrove right past the crown vic its a way faster car david kick my butt you know once we wentmore than for five hundred feet check out my tires throwing off chunksalready so we're going to have to tighten this up and get some action done armor all has this new stuff that we're testing forthe magazine is called custom shield and what it's supposed to do is protectyour paint job its all like a rubberized coating that lookslike spray paint squirt on stuff

and peels off later and not that wecare about this particular quarter panel but totest it i'm a spray it on here and at the end of our testing will rip it offand find out if it works good yeah baby smooth now we can be burnouts and throw rubberall over the car and won't matter should come right off not that i reallycare about the paint on this piece of crap what we're gonna do nowis like a movie scene lead follow or reverse 180 finnegan's gonna be pointing this way i'mgonna be pointing this way we're both

break the crown vic windshield and you to shatter the caprice windshield that iscompletely senseless. and radical fun the rest to this dealwhenever we were road tripping these cars we were in danger getting pulledover and arrested cuz it really did look like we were involved in a hit-and-runaccident right now i'm not a water truck crews are on the parking lot behind mewetting down the shortest and worst autocross course i ever seenin my life all because i want watch david spin out the caprice a few moretimes

by the end of the day it had just turnedin the mayhem and we're destroying these cars for no reason drifting around doingdonuts and the left rear tire the caprice gotsoul bad it was flinging cords everywhere iget in the caprice and the tires are shredded alreadythere's very little left they look like balloons there's fuzzieshanging off the side and i only drifted this car in front ofthe camera twice before the left rear tire exploded right oncommand it sound like a shotgun went off

it was pretty spectacular now at the end of the day we've totallytrashed this thing with filth and even hit with the tire andwe're gonna find out if the custom shield will peel off good as new nice it's kinda like vinyl wrap not even the tire scuffed through it that's pretty amazing i like it

tomorrow headed to boron to build the off road track we wanted to do for like two years is the plan we're going to freeze our cajones off tonight yeah and i only got a shovel this big so that is gonna take some time we're just gonna drive through because i'm gonna go get mud tires put onthat thing out for tires gone so you get mud tires yep why didn't i think of that crown vic had 17 inch wheels on it and the only aggressive tires i couldfind for the 17-inch wheels

were set up blizzak ice tires whichwere really soft and david because his cop car had 15inch wheels you know on the caprice he bought mudterrain bfgs with aggressive looking tread this thing looked like it belonged in amad max movie if it had you know a blower with a switch on it check it out it's perfect i wish they were wider they dohave kinda that pizza cutter look to them but they're aggressive i've literallygot like

skateboard wheels on my car right nowbut you're still driving the capeesh not cool no matter what you put on itfor tires you got the ducktape so i can shut my door wow it's hashed cool i'm a chump now that we've got my tires on we hitthe road and drove about i don't know three or four hours out inthe california desert we both figured heading out to the dirt he's got theadvantage

boy were we wrong it's getting cold because we're climbingout of la county in the high desert here and and we're going to someplace specialspot every grown man should go on their entire lives and that's the middle of no where i'm gonna have to say thechevy is gonna have the edge on the crown vic it's got to or i'm going to be humiliated i could see nothing other than histail light

so this 2.4 acres all yours all mine you're going to inherent that some day were building a dirt track were inventing are own off road racingseries a dirt ripping thrashing course toput these two cop cars to the test there's a big s yeah for sure thatconnects back out yeah were totally in agreement so how do youwanna make that you want to just hop in a car let's justdrive it this is gonna be fun how long before one gets hopelessly high centered on something once we found theright property the first thing we did

is both hopped in the crown vic to goand plot a racetrack this trunk is garbage right jump on it nope i no seat belt dude right hander wow we're gonna get stuck out hereeventually no endangered species i haven't seen anything moving in here

just us this is like the twisties out there there's bushes that aren't too dense and we be able to drive these carsaround three or four times and make our own track yeah that's gonna be a so fun and it was going to connect to youhigh-speed straight section that at some point the power company hadgraded to put in power poles

i let's get both cars and do this i having all the fun for the caprice i had found these reallycool bfg mud terrain in a small size thatwould fit the passenger car and i got up because they weren't toughbut i thought were gonna be dealing with the rocky terrain it turned out to be pure silk stuck knew that was gonna happen and he goesout there with his big old honking mud terrain tires thatare way too skinny these things are

pizza cutters and he goes out there and i'm kinda ruttedup the course already and he gets right out in the middle of it nowherenear flat hard ground not feeling so goodabout those new tires now are ya this is the part where i get stuck its gonna need snap might wanna give it more distance than that i'm not even a ford guy but reallythere's no denying the crown victoria is kicking the crap

out of the capeesh he's so far out on the course thatwhen i drive out i have to leave the safety flat hardpact dirt and go on to the silky stuff to try andget him out i give it a decent yank starts coming up overthe sperm he crest the firm my car gets high center and we're both stuck in the dirt now finnegan came in rightbehind me to pull me out and of course the crown vic thenalso went straight into china at so there we are with twocars completely stuck in the middle of

nowhere and yeah we can't deny it ultimately wehad to have the video guys pick up pull us out we suck at off roading now the good part the race starting line plan is i'm thinking wecome through here at speed right flying start why wouldn't you and then alltime you if you fly by you run the whole track come by againand i'm going to stop the clock when you pass a garbage can

again i'm not going to tell your time yetdon't show it to me yeah just like leave the phone over there and i'm gonna getin mine and do the same thing i have a lot in confidence right now becausethe crown vic although on paper has less power both ofthese cars seen this just suck ass in the horsepower departmentwhen you actually drive the crown vic handles a lot better andthe tires seem to be working better so i think i've got this coveredhave to admit i'm a little intimidated i think that the crown vic handlesbetter off-road is gonna come thru speed soon soon as he crosses the trash can i'm going to

fire this up are you can see him just digging in there's more dirt in the sky then on the ground right now he is like in a minute and a half it's a prettylong course okay so i'm not gonna tell him his time i'mgonna put that my pocket i'm gonna go make my running we'll see what happens but did i win now it's my turn and i knew i was only gonna get him in the straightawayshe was sloppy out there i'm gonna show

skill go starting timer he looks good he looks smooth from what icould see but in the middle section of the track i can't see him running when i hear the engine bogging downthrough the really soft stuff and i'm pretty confident he's gonnalose this deal the question is does he have the nutsto come through here wide open at the end of the race andstay in it knowing there's a crown vic right there

his car fish tailing and he could die orhave an air bag in the face god that thing is huge come on you hunk of junk o my god oh my god he's going throughthe finish line and then breaking in pitching the carsideways out in the desert it's fast i have no idea how you did cuzi don't know how i did but i will give you this you stated in its almost all the wayto here

and damn near took out the back of my car that was awesome atthis point i thought there was a chance that i hadbeat him with law force power and top end speed but i'll show you mine if you show me yours what was it not quite what is it 145.2 for you 148.5 for me over 3 seconds 3.3 seconds the phones turn around i look and i realize i've whooped his ass by three seconds and it's really not that i've whooped hisass it's the crown vic has whooped the caprice's ass

badly well in fact what we did waspretty unscientific but we did spend a couple a days thrashing really hard on the ford andchevy cop cars and it did teach me a lot the chevys arereally more collectible they're more valuable they made him for only three yearsinstead it for a full run like the crown vic for an enthusiast they're really goodcar bone stock there really fast you can also go thecrown vic which is going to be way

easier to find these days it as a far more modern suspensionsystem the motor sucks a lot in comparison to the chevy tho so kinda pick your poison you want abetter handling car new or more comfortable looks a little bit cooler you get the ford i came into this wholedeal truly with my heart behind the capricenot because i'm really a chevy guy but because i knew it had way morehorsepower and i knew it was way faster i was completely into it andi'm walking away

needing to have a crown vic at the endof the day then we're gonna claim a win on the crown vic right crown vic thewinners are chevy guys yep you lose
